Test Cells and Testing Facilities
C-17-C130 Airdrop Roller Load Test Machine and Facility Upgrade
The Chant Engineering Model 9190, C-17-C130 Airdrop Roller Load Test Machine was a complete upgrade and modernization of an existing 30-year-old C-141 Roller Load Test Machine and facility. Chant Engineering was the prime contractor.
We removed the C-141 capability and replaced it with the ability to test C-17 and C-130 Aircraft configurations.
We increased the physical length of the test bed to 32 ft., upgrade the hydraulic pull test capability, added in airdrop testing capability for different configurations of both new aircraft, designed and installed modern computerized roller instrumentation, added 2 ea. 60,000 lb. capacity gantry hoists added a new soundproof operator control room and designed and installed a new Chant Engineering software (National Instruments Co. LabView based) operator control system and data acquisition package.
Chant personnel demolished the existing equipment and installed all of the upgrades on-site in Natick, MA. As with all our large turn key projects, Chant provided preliminary and final design reviews, project management documentation, site prep documentation, acceptance testing plan, training plan, calibration plan, maintenance plan and training, etc.
Helicopter Blade Whirltower Test Stand
The Chant Engineering Model 9269 Helicopter Blade Whirltower Test Stand is used to test production rebuilt helicopter blades in a Military maintenance depot environment. The Whirltower spins the two remanufactured blades and one master blade.
The remanufactured blades are adjusted to match the specifications of the master blade. The Chant Helicopter Blade Whirltower Test Stand has the latest operator control system, written in-house by Chant Engineers. The Whirltower also features the newest blade tracking system and
mechanical base plate and pitch mechanism.
The new software system is a National Instruments Inc. LabView based program with full data acquisition for all the required testing parameters. Chant Engineering was the prime contractor in charge of every aspect of the job. Chant manufactured the components, wrote the programs, integrated the system, installed, and trained and acceptance tested everything on site at USMC Cherry Point, NC.

US Army Abrams M1-A1 AGT 1500 Tank Engine Test Cell
The Chant Engineering Model 9656 M1-A1 AGT 1500 Tank Engine Test Cell is used to test the Modular Power Pack AGT 1500 engine (ground hop) module. The test cell consists of a stand alone, soundproof building divided into an operator control room and a separate engine test room.
Provided to Anniston Army Depot in Anniston, Alabama, the test cell was designed, fabricated, and installed by Chant Engineering with all functions, capabilities, site preparation and test equipment. Chant Engineering provided the turnkey design and all resources necessary to design, manufacture, deliver, install, demonstrate functional operation, and provided operator and maintenance training for the Power Pack (ground hop) module and control room. This contract was finished ahead of schedule and on budget.
